## The basics
*Who we are and what we actually do.*
### What is Vesping Around?
Vesping Around is a boutique riding experience company. We run small-group, guided scooter rides across the parts of Italy locals actually know: Sicily, Puglia, Tuscany, Umbria, Veneto, and the Ligurian coast. Every route, every table, and every place we stay is chosen by hand. It is slow travel on two wheels, not a coach tour with a scooter bolted on.
### Who owns and runs it?
Mauro Clerici, the founder. He came to this from years in fine dining, then advertising technology, then designing experiences for other people, and eventually built the trip he kept taking himself. He plans the roads, knows the families who cook for the group, and rides at the front. This is a small company, not a call center.
### Where is the company based, and where does it operate?
The company is Little Mint Experiences LLC, based in Miami, Florida, and registered with the State of Florida as a Seller of Travel, registration number ST45069. All riding experiences take place in Italy.

## How a riding experience works
*What a week with us is really like.*
### What does a typical day look like?
Espresso standing at the bar around seven, then out on the road before the heat, while the roads are still ours. Midday is a long table in someone's courtyard, with food that has a name and a story. Late afternoon is the best light and the emptiest roads, which is usually why people came. Evenings are open. The best afternoon of any trip is normally the one nobody planned.
### How big are the groups?
Small on purpose. Departures are capped at 15 riders and are often smaller. The test we use is simple: the group has to fit around one table. By day two you will know everyone's name. Each departure also needs a minimum number of travellers to run, which is confirmed no later than 60 days before departure.
### Who leads the ride?
Two experienced leads ride with the group, one at the front and one at the back, so nobody is ever out there alone. Mauro is up front. He is on the road with the group, not waving you off at the hotel.
### Is there a support vehicle?
Yes. A support van follows the route. If the weather turns, if a scooter needs attention, or if you simply want to sit a stretch out and watch the countryside from a seat, the van is right there. Using it is normal, not a failure.
### Where do you stay, and do you change hotels every night?
In most cases, no. We build the trip around a single base camp, typically a four star hotel or a family-run masseria or agriturismo chosen for character rather than category, and we come back to the same room every evening. You unpack once, you get to know the place, and you stop living out of a suitcase. A small number of routes are itinerant and move on. Each departure's page says exactly which nights are where.
### Are meals included?
Generally yes, all of them: breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus every curated activity listed on the itinerary. Meals are a real part of the trip rather than a catering line item. Anything outside the itinerary is on you. Check the individual departure page to confirm what that specific trip includes.
### How many miles will I ride in a day?
It depends on the day and the trip. Some days are under 15 miles. Others run up to about 60. The longest single day we have ever logged, on a full day outing, was around 120 miles. There are plenty of stops throughout, and the roads are the good kind. Each departure's itinerary carries the approximate distance, riding time and pace for every day.
### Do I have to attend every activity?
No. The days are designed with padding and free time built in, and some days feel more taxing than others. If the weather is unkind or you would rather stay at the hotel and be pampered, that is a perfectly good choice. Activities you skip cannot be refunded, because they are already committed with our suppliers.

### What does "5 + 2 days" mean?
Five core riding days that everyone shares, plus up to two optional extra days you can add at the end. The add-on days are real rides with their own theme, such as a museum run, an island mini tour, a grappa route, or a slow "ride and chill" day. You choose them at checkout and they are priced separately, per person.
### When is the season?
May through October. Spring and early autumn are the sweet spots: warm roads, long light, and towns that still belong to the people who live in them. We do not run winter departures.
### Where do I find current dates and availability?
On [vespingaround.com](https://www.vespingaround.com), which reads live from our booking system. Dates, prices, remaining spots and status all change, so that page is the source of truth and this one is not. As of August 2026 there are 17 departures scheduled for 2027.
### Can you run a private departure for my group?
Yes, and we love doing it. Private bespoke rides are arranged directly rather than booked from the public calendar: your own dates, your own people, a route built around whatever you are celebrating. ## Riding, licences and skill
*The part people get wrong most often. Read this one properly.*
### Do I need a motorcycle licence?
For the standard 125cc scooter included in every package, no. A valid, current car or driving licence from your home country is what Italian law requires, and you must carry the original physical licence with you throughout the trip.
If you upgrade to a 200cc engine or larger, a valid motorcycle licence from your home country is required as well. Without it you will be moved back to a 125cc machine and the price difference is not refunded.
### Do I need an International Driving Permit?
Yes. A valid, current International Driving Permit is mandatory to ride in Italy, on top of your home licence. Two details matter and catch people out:
- The only permit we can accept is one issued by the **American Automobile Association (AAA)**. Permits from other issuers are not accepted.
- You must carry the **physical permit** with you at all times during the trip. Photocopies and digital copies do not count.
Sort this out early. It is quick to obtain, and it is the single most common thing riders leave to the last minute.
### Do I need to know how to ride a scooter?
You should have ridden a two wheeled vehicle before, or be genuinely comfortable learning. You should also be comfortable riding with a passenger if you plan to carry one. Every trip opens with a proper warm-up, and we match the route to the group rather than the other way around. If you are rusty or new, tell us early rather than on day one.
### Will my riding be assessed?
Yes, and this is a safety measure, not a test to pass. The lead guide assesses riding ability in person at the start of the trip. If your skill, balance or observed riding does not suit that specific itinerary, you may be moved to passenger status where a seat is available, or asked to follow the group in the support vehicle or a rental car, at your own cost. The scooter portion is not refunded in that case. Misrepresenting your riding experience when booking can lead to the same outcome, so be honest with us and with yourself.
### I have never ridden at all. Can I still come?
Often yes, on the Beginner departures. We offer a "Learn to Vesping" ride course as an add-on, for one, two or three riders, plus an optional practice ride day before the trip proper begins. Talk to Mauro first so he can be honest about whether the departure you have your eye on is a sensible place to start.
### What scooter will I ride?
Most riders are on a 125cc automatic, red, fitted with a top box and a phone holder, with a fully sanitised helmet provided as part of the kit. One scooter is included and paid for in both single and double occupancy packages. Some departures offer a limited number of larger engine upgrades, up to 310cc, as a paid add-on.
### Can two people share one scooter?
Yes. Pricing is built around one scooter per room, so a couple in a double room shares a machine by default, one riding and one on the back. If you both want your own, add a second scooter at checkout. Friends who are not a couple often book a double with separate beds and add a second scooter, which is usually the cheapest way for two people to each ride.
### Is there an age limit?
- Riders must be at least **18** to operate any of our rental vehicles.
- Travellers aged **16 or 17** may join as passengers only, with a signed parental or guardian consent form submitted before departure.
- Travellers under **16** cannot join a trip.
There is no upper age limit. We may ask for proof of age, and not meeting the requirement means exclusion from the trip without refund. Families are very welcome within those limits.
## Price, what is included, and how to book

### How much does a riding experience cost?
For 2027 departures, roughly $3,500 to $7,700 per person in US dollars, depending on the region, the length of the ride, and whether you are in a shared or single room. A five day ride in a shared room sits at the lower end. The eight and ten day premium routes sit at the top. Every departure publishes its own exact prices, and those are the numbers that count.
### What is included in the price?
Generally, every package includes:
- Accommodation in high end properties for the full duration of the trip
- Scooter rental, one per package, with helmet, roadside assistance, vehicle replacement, and third party liability insurance
- All curated activities listed on the itinerary
- All meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner
- A travel kit: Vesping Around backpack, rain jacket, water bottle and T-shirt
- Access to our airfare concierge
- Access to travel insurance, quotable and purchasable during checkout
- Two experienced ride leads and a support vehicle

Depending on the departure, the usual options are:
- Extra optional riding days at the end of the trip

- The "Learn to Vesping" ride course, or a practice ride day
- Extra nights at the base camp, before or after the ride
- A room upgrade where the property offers one
- A travel concierge service for the wider trip

- A small car rental for anyone not riding
- Commemorative Vesping Around hats and T-shirts
Add-ons and insurance can be changed later. You can return to the booking portal at any time and upgrade or downgrade.
### Am I charged per person or per room?
Per person. Each departure offers single, double and sometimes triple occupancy, and the price shown is what one traveller pays in that room type. Double occupancy includes one scooter for the two of you, which is why it looks cheaper per head.
### Do you take solo travellers?
Yes, and plenty come. Every departure has a single occupancy option, so you get your own room. A small group is the easiest possible way to travel alone without feeling alone, which is rather the point of one table.
### What does booking actually look like?
Start from the Book Now button on our homepage, any destination page, or inside the itinerary you have been reading. Then:
- Choose your room type, single or double occupancy
- Fill in traveller details
- Choose any add-ons, such as an extra scooter or extra nights at base camp
- Add travel insurance through our partner if you need it
The last two steps are optional at the time of booking and can be revisited later. Checkout runs on WeTravel.
### How does payment work? Is there financing?
There is no financing. There is something better for most people: an interest-free installment plan. You pay a deposit to reserve your spot, then the balance in interest-free installments, with the number of installments depending on the trip. The final balance is due at least 30 days before departure. Missing a payment deadline can cost you the booking without refund, so keep an eye on the schedule.
### Can I pay in my own currency, and what is the cheapest way to pay?
Yes. Trips are quoted in US dollars, but WeTravel lets you pay in your own currency using local methods such as SEPA, BACS or iDEAL, with no payment processing fee to you, which avoids your bank's exchange markup. The cheapest route of all is a direct bank transfer, which sidesteps the two to three percent card fees entirely.
### When is my trip confirmed?
Each departure needs a minimum number of travellers to run, in order to keep the experience intimate and viable. Once that minimum is met your trip is confirmed, and confirmation happens no later than 60 days before departure. We recommend not booking flights until you have that confirmation, because we cannot cover non-refundable travel costs if a trip does not reach its minimum.
## Changes, cancellation and refunds

### Can I cancel and get my money back?
- **Within 14 days of booking:** your deposit is refundable.
- **After 14 days, up to 30 days before departure:** the deposit is non-refundable, you forfeit payments made to date, and any remaining installments are still due under the original schedule.
- **Inside 30 days of departure:** the cancellation window is closed and no refunds are available, for any reason, including weather, illness and personal emergencies.
This is why comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory on our trips. It exists precisely to cover the situations we cannot.
### What if Vesping Around cancels the trip?
If we cancel a departure, for example because it does not reach its minimum number of travellers, you receive a full refund minus a 2 percent administrative fee on the amount paid to date. That fee is all-inclusive and covers processing and bank charges, with nothing else deducted. If the trip is rescheduled instead, you can move your payments to the new dates, or towards another trip on our calendar under the transfer rules below.
### Can I give my spot to someone else?
Yes. With written notice at least 30 days before departure, your reservation can be transferred to another person, who takes on the remaining balance. Recovering what you have already paid is between you and them. A $500 administrative fee applies per booking.
### Can I move to a different trip?
Yes, with conditions. Requests must be in writing and received at least 90 days before your original departure date, and every transfer needs our written approval by email before it is real. Transferred payments must be used on a new trip within 12 months of the original booking date, after which they are forfeited. There is no limit on the number of transfers, and a $500 administrative fee applies each time. Only the original traveller can initiate a transfer, and balances cannot be handed to a third party this way.
### What are the administrative fees?
- **$500 per booking** for a person to person transfer, or a trip to trip transfer
- **$150 per person** for other administrative changes, such as date changes
- **2 percent of the amount paid** retained on refunds where Vesping Around cancels the trip
### Do you issue travel credits?
No. Unused payments cannot be held as credit or applied to a future trip except through the formal trip transfer process above. There are also no refunds for missed portions of a trip caused by late arrival, early departure, or a no-show.
## Insurance and liability
*Unglamorous, and the section most worth understanding before you pay.*
### Is travel insurance really mandatory?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is required for every traveller on every Vesping Around trip, and proof must be submitted within 14 days of booking. Without it, your booking can be cancelled without refund. Your policy must cover, at minimum:
- Trip cancellation and interruption
- Medical emergencies
- International emergency evacuation
It must cover at least the full cost of your Vesping Around booking, stay valid for the whole trip, and ideally extend to your flights and any travel either side. You are free to buy it anywhere. For convenience we partner with Trawick International and you can quote and purchase during checkout.
### Is the scooter insured?
Partly, and this is the detail riders most often misunderstand. Scooters are rented through authorised local providers and come with the basic third party liability cover (RCA) that Italian law requires. That covers damage you cause to other people.
It does **not** cover damage to the scooter itself: scratches, dents, accidents, loss, vandalism or damage from misuse. As the rider you take full financial responsibility for damage to your machine, regardless of fault, and a valid credit card is required at pickup as a security deposit.
You can buy an optional third party policy, such as a collision damage waiver, that covers scooter rentals. If you do, make sure it is active before the trip starts, check the terms yourself, and tell us you have it. Claims go directly to that provider.
### Is there a waiver to sign?
Yes. Riding a motor vehicle in a foreign country carries real risk, and every participant signs a Waiver of Responsibility form before the trip starts. It is mandatory. Declining to sign means exclusion from trip activities without refund. The full liability terms live in our Traveler Terms and Conditions.
### What happens if weather ruins a riding day?
The lead guide can modify, postpone or substitute that day's activities based on conditions, and will make the call in the moment. We also reserve the right to change routing, accommodation, dining or activities when circumstances require it, and in that case we substitute something equivalent or better at no extra cost. Riding days affected by weather are not refunded. This is why the support van follows every route.
## Rules on the road
*Few, firm, and all of them about keeping the group safe and the week good.*
### What safety gear is required?
Helmets are provided and included for every rider and passenger, and wearing one is mandatory whenever the vehicle is moving. Refusing means you do not ride, with no refund. Also mandatory:
- **Closed-toe shoes** at all times while riding. No sandals, no flip-flops.
- **Eye protection**, goggles or UV sunglasses, against wind, debris and sun.
Long trousers or riding trousers are strongly recommended for abrasion protection but are not compulsory. Bring your own helmet, gloves or jacket if you prefer your own fit.
### What is the alcohol policy?
Our trips include wine tastings and long lunches, and we expect people to enjoy them responsibly and within local legal limits for driving. Riding under the influence has zero tolerance. Anyone the lead guide judges to be impaired is taken off their vehicle immediately, becomes a passenger for the rest of that segment where space allows, and is transported onward at their own expense. That judgement rests with the lead guide and is final. Nothing missed as a result is refunded.
### Is there a code of conduct?
Yes, because in a group this small one person can shape everybody's week. We expect respect and openness towards fellow travellers, guides, and the communities we visit. Harassment, persistent disruption, disrespect towards local culture, ignoring safety instructions, or riding that puts others at risk can lead to removal from the trip at the lead guide's discretion, with departure costs on the participant and no refund. In practice this almost never comes up. It exists so it does not have to.
### Are phones and cameras allowed?
Of course, and people take wonderful photographs. Our guides may set expectations around screen use during particular activities to protect the experience for everyone, and we would gently encourage you to be present. By joining a trip you consent to us photographing and filming for promotional use, and a selection of images is shared with the group afterwards. If you would rather not appear, email us before the trip and we will respect it.
## Getting there and practicalities
*The unglamorous part, handled.*
### Which airport should I fly into?
It depends on the region: Catania for Sicily, Brindisi for Salento, Bari for Valle d'Itria and Gargano, Florence for Tuscany, Perugia or Rome for Umbria, Venice for Veneto. Every departure names its arrival airport and its base camp city, so you are never guessing. Do not book flights until your departure is confirmed.
### Do you book my flights?
No, flights are yours to book, which keeps you free to use your own miles and routing. We do partner with a local airfare and travel concierge, and we will connect you. To be transparent about it: you pay exactly what you would pay going to them directly, and Vesping Around receives a small referral fee.
### How do I get from the airport to the group?
Some departures offer an airport or station transfer as an add-on, and we also offer an optional shuttle for luggage between the airport or train station and base camp. Either way, we collect your arrival and departure details before the trip and coordinate pickups. Your pickup time and point appear in the guest app before you travel.
### Can I arrive early or stay on afterwards?
Yes, and many people do. Most departures let you add extra nights at the base camp before or after the ride, booked at checkout with the rest of the trip. If you want to build a longer holiday around the ride, the travel concierge exists for exactly that.
### What happens to my luggage?
Because most trips are built around one base camp, your bag stays in your room and there is nothing to move. On the rare itinerant route with multiple hotels, luggage transport is included and we move your bags for you so you ride light. We set no limit on luggage size or weight. Your airline will.
### I have dietary restrictions. Will that be a problem?
We ask about it during registration and we will do our best. Most restrictions work out fine. Be aware that we eat in genuinely traditional places in rural Italy, so something like a strict vegan diet can be genuinely hard to accommodate at every table. Tell us before you book, not after, and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
### Do I need to speak Italian?
Not at all. Trips run in English. Mauro is Italian and handles everything in Italian on your behalf, from the kitchen to the mechanic, which is a large part of what you are actually buying.
### How fit do I need to be?
Moderately. Some destinations involve physical activity, and riding all day is more tiring than it looks. Assess your own health honestly before booking, and tell us about mobility or medical needs in advance so we can talk through options before you commit rather than after.
## After you book

### What happens once I have booked?
You get a pre-trip call with Mauro to go through riding experience, licence and permit questions, room and scooter setup, dietary needs, and anything you are quietly worried about. You submit proof of travel insurance within 14 days. Then you get access to the guest companion app, where the trip fills in as it approaches.
### What is the guest companion app?
A private web app for booked riders, opened with your booking email, no password to remember. It holds your day-by-day itinerary with times, your airport pickup and drop-off details, the hotels, who else is on the trip, and a group chat with the rest of your group and with us. All times shown are Italian local time exactly as entered, so nothing shifts under you when you travel.

### Is a Day Ride the same as a Vesping Around riding experience?

### Is this a motorcycle tour?
No. These are scooters, mostly 125cc automatics, and the pace is unhurried by design. If you want high mileage days on a large motorcycle, there are companies who do that well and we are not one of them.
### Can I come without riding at all?
Yes, in two ways. Ride on the back of a shared scooter with your partner, or, on departures that offer it, follow the group in a small rental car. The support van is also always there. Nobody has to ride to belong to the group.
### Which law governs my booking?
Florida and United States federal law, with disputes handled in the state and federal courts of Miami, Florida, and mediation attempted first. The full Traveler Terms and Conditions on our website are the governing document for every booking, and paying a deposit means accepting them.
